Albertville is situated at the intersection of the Beaufortain, Val d’Arly, Bauges, Tarentaise, and Maurienne massifs. The biggest ski resorts are less than an hour from the Olympic town.

The ski resorts of Crest-Voland-Cohennoz (Val d’Arly) and Areches-Beaufort (Beaufortain) provide regular ski buses to and from Albertville.
