Situated in the heart of Albertville, the Maison des Jeux Olympiques d’Hiver is a living memorial to the Olympic spirit and a spring-board for discovering the Olympic sites, enabling you to re-live the great adventure of the Savoy Winter Olympics. The permanent exhibition “Traces Olympiques”, (you can follow an "Olympic Trail"), explores different themes en route:
• The Olympic movement, its symbols and values.
• The development of the mountains, the resorts and ski areas.
• The 1992 Olympic games: 10 years of preparation for 16 days of events.
• Skiing and Skating, techniques and champions. Costumes, photos and videos encompassing the ceremonies and contests of the 1992 Winter Olympics; interviews with the Olympic champions, winter sport equipment and interactive displays.
Unique in France, this is a veritable house of Olympianism and of winter and mountain sports enabling us to comprehend the mountains of the 20th century, where sport and culture are intimately connected. The temporary exhibition area is dedicated to a different subject each year.
The temporary exhibition hall is dedicated to an annual programme based on these themes.
Next temporary exhibition January 2007: "Charlotte Perriand et la montagne" |
